Situated in the big five Manyoni Private Game Reserve, Rhino Sands Safari Camp is a five-star tented luxury safari destination designed to bring an authentic safari experience in traditional East African style to Kwa-Zulu Natal.
The safari experience at Rhino Sands revolves around two daily game drives. The day begins just before sunrise with coffee around the campfire. The morning game drive departs as the sun begins to rise in the sky. Game drives all occur within the Big Five 23,000 hectare Manyoni Private Game Reserve, and tend to last 2.5 to 3 hours, depending on sightings and the distance travelled. The area is well known for its plentiful game viewing of iconic African species like lion, cheetah, rhino, buffalo, giraffe, zebra, and many many more. All drives are conducted by expert game rangers and take place on open safari vehicles, with no more than six people per vehicle, ensuring comfortable space and prime game-viewing ability for each guest.
Designed to bring an authentic safari experience in traditional East African style to KwaZulu-Natal, Rhino Sands Safari Camp is an 8-bed luxury tented safari camp. It sits on a peninsula overlooking the Msunduze River in Manyoni Private Game Reserve.The entire camp is set under canvas upon wooden platforms within the riverine forest. The main camp area features a reception office, casual bar and formal lounges, and both formal and casual dining areas. There is also a large boma area complete with bush oven for guests to enjoy dining fireside beneath the stars.
Stay in one of our four custom-built and private luxury safari suites located amid beautiful riverine forest. Each tent features a lounge, outdoor and indoor showers, ball and claw bathtub, and private deck with plunge pool. All tents have stunning views of the riverbed below and each opens completely on three sides so guests are fully immersed in the South African wilderness experience. Like the main camp, the private tented suites are decorated to celebrate the romance of the classical safari experience, with a nod towards traditional East African styling but including all the modern creature comforts.
