TYPES OF ACCOMMODATION ON SAFARI

There are many different styles of accommodation available on safari, including a variety of "Tented" options. Whilst feeling comfortable and relaxed is hugely important on any safari, we would also strongly point out that there are several other key elements to consider when assessing accommodation options.

LUXURY TENTED CAMPS

Typically with luxury tented lodges the central areas will be more substantial, often with facilities such as a swimming pool, health spa or library. Tented lodges will be clearly permanent and whilst the walls of your accommodation are still canvas, your tented room will usually be built onto a concrete plinth or a raised wooden deck, often housed under a thatch roof. Tent zips are likely to be replaced by wood-frame doors, and bathrooms are often more substantial, with fully plumbed facilities. Pathways will be of permanent construction and central areas may be more extensive, sometimes with the feel of a safari hotel.

LUXURY SAFARI LODGES

Luxury safari lodges are the pinnacle of safari luxury, and can offer everything from air-conditioning and private plunge pools, mini bar and coffee station in the room. Private dining can be arranged in you private suite. The style of the luxury safari lodge can vary from traditional African decor to a modern flair, one can also arrange a spa treatment or select a stunning bottle of selected wines in the wine cellar, while not losing the main focus of the safari and the wonders of nature.

LUXURY PRIVATE SAFARI VILLAS

Safari villas normally comprise properties that range from 2 to 5 bedrooms, hosting groups of up to around 10 guests. Everything is laid out as private for the group – meals, guiding and activities. Having a villa does not guarantee that you see no other vehicles on safari, that depends on where you are visiting, but it does give you increased exclusivity in all other areas. Private villas can also vary hugely in style and comfort, but whatever level they offer, they are fantastic for families or groups of friends who are seeking exclusivity and flexibility, also being ideal for Photographic groups.
As with all things safari, there are different levels of quality and luxury available and with villas there are a few that really offer top end luxury and sophistication. For a family or small group seeking five star sophistication and seclusion, a luxury safari house or villa would be a natural choice
